What we believe
Midtown Church is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), and would locate itself within the broader Protestant and evangelical tradition. Here is a brief statement of what our church believes and teaches:
We believe that all of Scripture, contained in the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible, is without error in the original manuscripts and is authoritative for the Christian in matters of faith and practice. Furthermore, we believe that though the Scripture is applicable in all cultures and relevant for all times, its truth is infallible and not determined by any culture.
We believe that God has existed from all eternity as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are all persons distinct from one another, are each fully God, but are yet one God, and not three gods.
We believe that the first created man (Adam) chose to disobey God and thus fell into sin, and as a result of this choice all human beings are now born with a sin nature.
We believe that when Jesus came to earth He was one person with two natures, namely He was fully God and fully man.
We believe Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, died on the cross for human sin under the wrath of God, was raised from the dead, and ascended to the right hand of His Father in heaven.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no man or woman comes to the Father but through Him (see John 14:6).
We believe that all who truly believe in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins are given the gift of everlasting life.
We believe that Jesus Christ will return again for His own people and will judge all of humanity in perfect righteousness. We believe that those who reject the gospel in this life will perish forever under God’s judgment.
